Our animatic and rough cut!

And this is our rough cut! With no titles and only basic editing. We are planning to put the titles "hush" after the tape has been ripped off (my) mouth, and also for the music to cut out. it will also, fingers crossed, be a lot longer and a little less crazy with the titles separating some of the busier groups of video.

My name is JJ! and these are my evaluation notes...

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
- Use conventions of raising questions, fast pace, frequent action, and suspence.
- We develop question's
- Use thriller editing, quick snappy, eerie.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
- Not much representation, only one character.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
- need to research what company produced se7en, as influences came from here. that kind of whereabouts.
- Arthur Max. Production Company and New line Cinema produced se7en and possibly they would be the company that would be interested with ours because of the similarity. (but obviously ours would be better)

Who would be the audience for your media product?
- Anyone who likes a slightly eeire, and not right story line. Based maybe again slightly on the film se7en, some kind of mentaly disturbed person killing others off, or something along these lines. Really anyone who is in to a stange thriller. It would make you think, like the storyline in The Ring.
- After looking at the BBC board for ratings i think that our film would be rated 15, for a few reasons: There may be frequent use of strong language which i would expect to be inside, also Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain and or injury. I feel that at some point during the film the antagonist would do some violent acts towards its captures.

How did you attract/address your audience?
- We thought through quickly edited, distorted scenes, and hints of the plot would attract an audience to watch the movie.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?
- learnt about uses of Final cut, how to change footage, and how to edit effectivly and fast like we had intended to do.
- Also i feel we got a good feel of making our footage our own, by deleting moving and speeding it up to get what we wanted out of it.
- To use speeding up and reversing footage make an impact.

Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
- Learnt a lot, how to use final cut to further extent
- Better nowlage of camera angles, lighting etc
- Better knowlage of how to put footage together for a good effect.
- Also i feel that we're much better at planning an effective sequence and that the camera angles and shots were much better planed and executed.

Filming!

Our filming went pretty successfully and no complaints from it really. It was only me (JJ) and Sam who were able to do the filming as Tom had difficulties getting there. But when we arrives at my Dad's rehearsal rooms we just cleared on side got a chair and tape, and started filming. Because our set was very minimalistic there was no problems with props fitting in or anything. After we cleared everything out we pretty much got the camera out and started taking shots.
Before this though we agreed to put Sam through some torture, of old kettle water in his hair to give a dirty sweating effect and vapor rub under his eyes to make them appear redder. And of course we had duck tape to put over his mouth and we used several pieces to keep it sticking.

Teacher Feedback

Your blog looks excellent, well done.
Some more examples of influential thrillers and also the specific elements you like would be good.
Also some reflection on how your filming went would also benefit your blog and help with your evaluation questions.
Keep up the good work guys.

Titles!

I was just thinking about the name of people for set designer and cast etc. As we may need them in our opener! So here they be:
An Impossible Producions work
Cast: Sam Bristow
Producer: Teresa Howard
Main editor: Tomas Turpie
Directed By: James Luckas
Screenplay By: Harry Dorris
Original Music By: Sam Bristow
Cinematographer: Josef James
origional screenplay: Rey Tomas
Costume designer: Sarah bloggs
Production design: Sandra Hamilton
Director of photography: Jason Swift
Screen play: Wilson Morris

Soundtrack

Our soundtrack was created on Reason, due to me (Sam) being sick of the same old GarageBand string and piano loops. I wanted to make something similiar to the theme to Seven, a song by Nine inch Nails. they are known for a very industrial sound, very percussion focused, so i decided the drums were the most important part. I also took ideas from Clubbed To Death by Robert D., a very famous tune, known best for its use in Matrix trailers.
Here are some other songs that inspired the theme to Hush.

Clubbed to Death - Rob Dougan

Se7en Opening - Closer - Nine Inch nails

Tales From the Pigs - TBG

Order of filming

We were just thinking about the dictionary definition that we want to record, and we may have to record it at a different time than the main shots. This way we can blend it in later wit fade ins ect. So we may film this in a different location from the main location.
